Straw Cottage - Ardmore, Co. Waterford

What a summer of messin’ on Main Street! This lovely and important 51ft x 16ft cottage was in rough shape by the summer of 2024. Water ingress doing deep damage as seen on the walls. Lots of soil removal, drying out, and patching was done before any new material could be laid. Challenges at every turn, but alas we got there! About 1,900 bundles of Turkish water reed used, spar coating technique with hazel scollops, finished with a straight cut block reed ridge.

Ardmore is such a special village and community full of history, pride and love. I give such a big thank you to everyone there for such memorable summer!
